Robert Ehlert’s last three positions have had one thing in common: advocacy.

From 2009 to 2013 he served as Communications Specialist to a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives in California.
From 2013 to 2017 he was the Editorial Page Editor of the Idaho Statesman in Boise, Idaho.
From 2018 to July 2025 he served as Commentary Editor at SMU Dallas.

Ehlert has a background in newspaper writing and editing. Over the years he won many awards, including the distinction of being a Pulitzer Prize Finalist.
